I chose family medicine because you get to treat the whole person and not just focus on one certain specialty. I really love treating chronic conditions - it lets me treat the whole person and not to say, "Well, I can only treat this. You need to see somebody else for this." I also like the fact that no day is going to be the same. You get to treat chronic conditions, acute illnesses, all ages, the whole family. I want patients to know the care I'm delivering is individualized, the best fit based on our relationship and on evidence-based medicine. The most gratifying part about practicing medicine is relationships. I love talking about life with patients, getting to know them, their families and their circumstances and letting them know you're with them for life. You get to see their good times, their bad times and be there as a sounding board for them.
